Advanced Manufacturing and Innovation Manager
Dr. Agustin Diaz is part of the R&D Department at REM Surface Engineering serving as the Advanced Manufacturing and Innovation Manager overseeing Research Chemists and Additive Manufacturing Scientists. Over the last three years, he has worked on the optimization of post-process surface finishing of metal additive manufactured (AM) components using REM’s chemically accelerated finishing technologies. Agustin is a leading expert in the surface classification and post-processing of metal AM components and has expertise in new technology development for the surface finishing of metal components. He is the author of more than twenty technical papers and patents. Agustin has a Ph.D. in inorganic chemistry from the University of Puerto Rico and served for four years as a postdoctoral fellow at Texas A&M University. Dr. Agustin Diaz was a Ford Postdoctoral Fellow in 2011 and from 2016-2019 he served on the Ford conference planning committee. In 2018 Agustin was elected Co-Chair of the Conference and the master of ceremony of the 2018 Ford Conference at the National Academy of Sciences.
