FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Southington, CT – REM Surface Engineering proudly announces the retirement of Carlo Sparagna, who will be leaving the company after more than 25 years of dedicated service.
Carlo joined REM in December 1999 as Accounting Manager and, in 2009, took on the role of Controller. Over the years, he has been an invaluable member of our team, playing a key role in major initiatives such as helping to select and implement the X-3 accounting system in 2007, guiding the company’s financial strategies, and ensuring compliance with tax laws while minimizing costs.
Before joining REM, Carlo built a distinguished career in finance and accounting. He holds a B.S. in Accounting from Lehigh University and an M.S. in Taxation from the University of Hartford. His professional journey began in 1982 with Arthur Andersen & Co. in auditing, later taking him to the Financial Accounting Standards Board, where he contributed to defining what constitutes a financial instrument. He returned to public accounting in 1989 with Weiner Bernardi & Alfin CPAs in West Hartford, where his work included preparing financial statements for REM Chemicals during its sale, a connection that would eventually lead him to REM Surface Engineering.
Beyond his many professional achievements, Carlo is looking forward to enjoying retirement with his passions of fishing, traveling, and working at a garden center. He also plans to contribute his expertise to his wife’s law firm, assisting with probate accountings.
“Carlo’s impact at REM has been far greater than just his exceptional accounting, bookkeeping, and financial sense, ” says Nathan Michaud, Vice President. “Carlo has advised two generations of leadership at REM in making strategic decisions, ensuring that REM has grown and expanded in a way that ensures our financial stability and protects our employees and our business. His patience, humor, and kindness have always been a highlight and will be greatly missed.”
Please join us in celebrating Carlo Sparagna’s remarkable career and wishing him the very best as he embarks on this exciting new chapter.
