Brenham, Texas, (May 26, 2020) – REM Surface Engineering has been awarded Phase III research funding through the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s (NASA) Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program. This award continues a key research partnership with NASA and their work with advanced materials and additive manufacturing. This $154k Phase III award will provide funding for the utilization of REM’s technology for the post-process surface finishing of additively manufactured nickel-based superalloys, targeting further advances to Inconel® 625 components, and expanding to include applications on Inconel® 718, NASA HR-1, and JBK-75 as well as further R&D of processes for internal channels for said alloys. This Phase III award comes 10 months into the 24-month long Phase II effort funding for REM Surface Engineering’s proposal, “Post-Process Optimizing of Additive-Manufactured Nickel-Based Superalloys.”
