FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Brenham, Texas – REM Surface Engineering is proud to announce that Dr. Ryan Watkins, a pivotal leader in our lattice structure research and development efforts, has been selected to deliver a keynote address at the highly anticipated Additive Manufacturing Users Group (AMUG) Conference, taking place from March 30 to April 3, 2025, in Chicago, Illinois.

In particular, Dr. Watkins will discuss NASA JPL’s groundbreaking project, which successfully demonstrated and scaled the production of large, complex crush lattice components. This achievement, made possible with REM Surface Engineering’s support, involved utilizing our Chemical Polishing process to reduce the as-printed mass of lattices by over 80% while maintaining exceptional final tolerances of <0.5%. The project has been a critical step toward optimizing lightweight, high-performance components for future space missions.

Dr. Watkins’ contributions to aerospace engineering extend far beyond this project, having earned numerous accolades—including the 3D Printing Industry Award in the aerospace category. As a recognized expert in the field, his work continues to influence the direction of NASA’s additive manufacturing initiatives and holds promise for significant advancements in aerospace technology.

As the lead on NASA JPL’s award-winning lattice project, Dr. Watkins’ leadership and innovative approach to additive manufacturing exemplify the intersection of cutting-edge research and practical applications. His ability to optimize manufacturing processes and workflows aligns perfectly with REM’s ongoing commitment to delivering exceptional surface engineering solutions that drive progress in aerospace and beyond.

REM Surface Engineering extends heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Ryan Watkins on being selected as a keynote speaker at the 2025 AMUG Conference. We are proud to have Dr. Watkins as a leader in lattice structure initiatives utilizing REM’s Chemical Polishing process, and his contributions to the field of additive manufacturing continue to drive progress and inspire innovation.
